The Vision

The arrangements started in 2023.
The first manned interplanetary space probe of ESA should be sent to the red planet to clarify, if there currently is or at least has been life on Mars.
VIKING 1, the probe which landed softly on the planet on June 20, 1976, sent inexplicable outcomes on a chemical experiment, which indicated that there could have been life - or not.
Even the later probes SPIRIT, OPPORTUNITY and CURIOSITY could not solve the puzzle.
The capabilities of the porbes’ laboratories, were severely limited.
Only properly skilled scientists would be able to solve it.
The last stone for this mosaic followed 2004: ESA’s MARS EXPRESS discovered water-ice on the South Pole.

It was the birth of the idea “Discovery”.
